Last trip 3 - Hello Yellow !
Yellowstone, here we are ! So, is it really yellow ? Or would we just see a few stones ?
Yellowstone, here we are ! So, is it really yellow ? Or would we just see a few stones ?
Actually, what we discovered here is a complete festival for senses : colors, odours, textures, sounds, each and every thing is here to remind us that we stand less than 2.5 miles from the magma, which blew up in a gigantic eruption some 640.000 years ago, creating a huge caldera full of surprises : hot pools, geysers, canyons, waterfalls and others mud pots attract all kind of wild animals, making an extraordinary mix !

And there we go ! Welcome to Wyoming, where the sky is turning to grey... Never mind, let's put a raincoat on and a big smile on our face !
In happens to be the perfect transition for us : lots of places bear French-sounding names, and we drive through Paris and "Montpelier" before reaching our "Gros Ventre" (=Big Belly) campground.

We also get a free anatomy lesson : from the Big Belly, we head up to the Grand, Medium and Small "Teton" range (=Nipples in French ! 3 of them here... How strange !), under the same magic but menacing sky...

Passing from shadow to light, we discover the same Tetons the next day, but under blue skies -- which seemed to inspire some... each in their own way !

Last trip 1 - RV pick-up
This is it... Bye bye California, hello France ! But in between, we had a last plan to make the transition easier : a RV trip in Yellowstone. Flash back... and first step in Salt Lake City, Ut, where we meet with our Texan friends, Anne-Laure and Philippe (see last year trip) and pick up our RVs -- 2 huge 30-footers !

Bye-bye time ! From private dinners to family BBQs, we are busy saying good bye, with a mix of sweet and sour feelings...

Most special award for this BBQ at Genevieve and Rick's : started at 12:30, it lasts until 8:30pm -- but we are convinced it's only 6ish when we leave...
